8/18/2016 - Aggravated Assault/Stolen Vehicle

On August 15, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to an aggravated assault/stolen vehicle in the 1900 block of East Rice Street.  The victim found a male suspect in the laundry room of the apartment complex breaking into the coin operated laundry machines.  When the victim confronted the suspect about the theft, he pushed the victim.  The suspect then pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim. The suspect exited the apartment complex and got onto a previously reported stolen motorcycle and fled the scene.  The suspect was wearing a motorcycle helmet during this incident.  A photograph of the suspect is attached.  SFPD # 2016-64804.

8/11/2016 - Assault

On August 1, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to an assault in the 3400 block of South Gateway Boulevard.  The victim was walking home when he was encountered by a group of people.  The group of people started yelling at the victim and approached him in an aggressive manner.  They then started to assault the victim.  During the assault the victim was knocked unconscious.  The victim received numerous lacerations and a fractured orbital socket.  SFPD # 2016-60312.

On August 4, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to the 1500 block of N. C Avenue for a commercial burglary.  Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business and took several laptop computers.  The total value in loss is estimated to be in excess of $5000.00.

7/28/2016 - Vandalism

On July 26th, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to the 1200 block of North West Avenue for a vandalism inside the building. Unknown suspect(s) jumped up and grabbed the duct work.  Approximately 75 feet of the duct work detached from the ceiling and fell to the floor.  The total value of loss is estimated to be in excess of $20,000.  SFPD # 2016-80000337.

7/21/2016 - Construction Site Theft

On July 17th, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to the 8800 block of West Dockside Drive in reference to a construction site theft. Unknown suspect(s) gained access to a residence under construction.  The suspect(s) stole a solid cherry wood front door that was installed in the house.  The total value of loss is estimated to be in excess of $5000.  SFPD # 2016-55807.

7/14/2016 - Burglary

On July 8th, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to the 1400 block of S. Minnesota Avenue in reference to a commercial burglary. Unknown suspect(s) gained access to the building in the early morning hours of July 8th and took an undisclosed amount of cash as well as caused damage to property.  The total value of loss including damage to property is estimated to be in excess of $5000.  SFPD # 2016-52740.

7/7/2016 - Graffiti Vandalism

On July 5th, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to Explorer Elementary school located at 4010 W 82nd Street for a vandalism.  Unknown suspect(s) gained access to the roof of the building over the July 4th weekend and painted graffiti on the brick and tin roof edge.  The paintings consisted of various word sayings, art type designs, and the name of “Nikki”.  The total value of loss is estimated to be over $1000.  SFPD # 2016-51747.

6/30/2016 - Garage Burglary

On June 24th, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a garage in the 3700 block of N. 10th Avenue for a burglary.  Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the garage through a door.  Once inside the garage, the suspect(s) stole a shotgun, construction tools, and camera equipment.  The total value of loss is estimated to be over $6,700.  SFPD # 2016-47810.

6/23/2016 - Construction Site Burglary

On June 22, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a construction site in the 7900 block of West Lancaster Street for a burglary.  Unknown suspect(s) were able to gain entry into a house under construction.  Once inside the house, the suspect(s) stole a large number of construction tools.  The total value of loss is estimated to be over $10,000.  SFPD # 2016-47082.

6/16/2016 - Residential Burglary

On June 11th, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence in the 6200 block of W. Oscar Howe Circle for a burglary.  One of the residents who was sleeping, advised she was awakened by an unknown male standing in her bedroom.  The suspect, described as a white male, 18-19 years of age, 6 feet tall, and short dark hair, fled the residence when confronted.  A male resident gave chase and observed a second suspect sitting in a black Pontiac sedan which was parked running in front of the residence.  The second suspect, described as a white male, 18-19 years of age, and short dark hair, fled the scene in his vehicle before officers arrived.   The investigation revealed that the suspect forced entry into the residence through a screen.  SFPD # 2016-43536.
