The Sioux Empire Crime Stoppers relies on cooperation between the police, various media outlets and the public to provide a flow of information about criminals and the crimes they commit.

SUBMITTING A TIP

Call 605-367-7007 or 877-367-7007
Calls are taken by a national Crime Stoppers answering service where employees are trained to ask specific questions that might otherwise be forgotten by a tipster.  This answering service does not have the ability to provide caller ID, and conversations are not recorded. Our local Crime Stoppers assigned police coordinator  receives  the information and passes it along to an investigating officer. By guaranteeing a caller's anonymity, Crime Stoppers allows the caller to give information in a secure manner without the fear of the criminal finding out who they are.

Submit Tips Online
Tipsters can also submit their information online in a completely secure and anonymous way. Our WebTip process is powered by the world's leading online tip solution provider, Anderson Software. The very unique integrated Two-Way Dialog capabilities allow the tipster to come back and provide additional information to their tip at any time, but also provides a secure means for the coordinator to ask questions or provide reward information back to the tipster through the same secure and encrypted interface.

Download the Free App Called "P3 Tips"
Just like the anonymous tips submitted through the phone or website, this allows you to pass along information that could lead to an arrest. This feature offers no length limitations while also providing the ability for users to share images, videos and content that will anonymously get passed along to the Sioux Falls Police Department.

Whether the tip is submitted online, by phone or through the mobile app, the tipster will be given a TIP ID and password. With this information they can login at p3tips.com and submit follow-up information, engage in real-time chat/two-way dialogue, be informed of the outcome of the tip, and access any pertinent reward information.

CASH REWARDS

The Crime Stoppers non-profit organization is funded by private donations and fundraising events. NO TAX DOLLARS are involved!

The Crime Stoppers Board meets monthly to evaluate tips leading to arrests and decide on the size of their cash rewards. Rewards are then distributed in an anonymous manner to the callers. Callers may be eligible for rewards up to $1,000 but often times callers choose to not collect their rewards in an effort to show their support for the non-profit organization (optional).

DOES IT REALLY WORK?

Yes! Since the start of Crime Stoppers, this tips received have led to  thousands of arrests and recovery of substantial amounts of property. Calls have included information about such crimes as murder, robbery, rape, assault, drug and firearm offenses.

In addition to solving crimes, there are other benefits that have resulted from this program.

  • Awareness in the community that there is a real crime problem
  • Willingness by the public to fight back against crimes
  • Improved relationships between the police, media and the general public

Crime Stoppers is accepted by local police departments as a valid and effective investigative tool. Through its overwhelming response, the public has also accepted the program as an alternative to traditional methods of giving information.
